Draft to discover the argument

Co-produces an exploratory draft or memo that follows the argument where it leads, pressing on vague spots so the scholar ends the session with a clearer position than when they started.

In / outRough thesis or topic + current position → exploratory draft with sharpened argument and identified remaining gaps

You might say…

I don't know what I think until I write it — but writing alone doesn't always get me there.

What it does

Single-judgement skill that uses writing as the thinking instrument: it co-produces an exploratory draft, memo, or extended note, following the argument where it leads and pressing on the points where the position is still vague, so the scholar ends the session believing something clearer than when they began. The output is a sharpened position, not a publishable asset. Used for any extended write-to-think session.

Trigger: Use for any extended write-to-think session when the goal is discovering a position, not producing a publishable asset.
