Scenario Simulation

Build judgement by putting people inside the situation, not beside it.

Stages a sandboxed scenario — a sales call, a clinical case, a crisis response — where learner choices drive branching outcomes and a structured debrief follows. Use this when the skill that matters only develops under realistic pressure, and real practice carries too much risk.

Operational dimensions

Human co-pilot

Person and system work side-by-side.

On demand

Fires when a user asks.

Low data gravity

Light state; replaceable any time.

Closed surface

No external systems on either side.

Inputs

  • scenario template (context, counterparties, branching rules)
  • learner action or decision at each branch point
  • optional rubric for debrief scoring

Outputs

  • scenario trace (full action log with branch states)
  • branching outcome state
  • structured debrief artefact with rubric-anchored feedback

Mechanism

Runs a learner through a synthetic, branching scenario with consequences and produces a debrief on the run.

Why this is a primitive

Cannot be decomposed — staging a synthetic situation with branching state and debriefing the run is one operation. It is distinct from live instruction (no instructor turn), recall (no item set), or coaching real artefacts (the artefact is synthetic by definition).

Where it shows up

Sales training — reps practice discovery calls with a simulated sceptical buyer before their first real call
Medical education — students manage a deteriorating synthetic patient; wrong decisions escalate the scenario state
Leadership development — managers navigate a synthetic difficult-conversation scenario and receive debrief on what they missed
